WAKE THE POOL LEIPZIG GERMANY 20 FEB 2010
Article written by Sophie Cordery
Wake the pool in Leipzig Germany was a great start to the season for me, with big competition from European riders including Maxine Sapulette, Denise de Haan, Sophia Marie Reimers and Tor Young plus numerous German girlss !! :/ :/ :/
I took the hard way to get into the finals by having to qualify in the LCQ's which set me off the dock in the finals second. I took a safe first run and at the end of the first run I was lying fourth. To get higher I knew I had to step it up. we went off in reverse order and I transferred the funbox to backlip and did a tantrum off the kicker.
The cable seemed to be running a lot faster but it could have been because of the small pool we had to stay in. Maxine tried her whirly off the kicker which she had landed every time in practice, but unfortunately didnt land it when it counted. After my second run I went into first place but did not know at the time as the commentating was all in German. the last rider off the dock was denise de haan who transfered the funbox and did a tantrum off the kicker so I knew it was close. After a few minutes of waiting the German girl next to me told me I had won as I couldnt understand what they were saying. There were other tricks going round including 360's 540's and grab blind 180's from Tor Young.
It was a great start to the New Year and thanks to my sponsors sooruz and Jbski..
Well done to Sophie from all at JBSki, hopefully the first of many competition successes for her in 2010!
